As I mentioned earlier, the only way to control the radio, if you want to send the sound (one or two side), we have to use the skype, or program to create Internet radio.
In skype we have to set in the audio options our sound card and output it we use to connect to the trx (worth to have a second sound card, so we can simultaneously use the computer normally, without disturbing the remote control radio.

If you want to join the steering so that it did not require interference on your host computer, you may also select an option in skype automatically receive from people in the book.

If you do not have on your computer directly to the external ip, for example because we share the internet on several computers and the router have a public ip, it is also an option, since most of these routers, we needed to redirect the port to the selected computer on the network, just look router menu on option “port redirection”, “virtual server” or similar, and there we enter the interesting port (7805) and the internal ip of your computer.

My first attempt was carried out through a speaker and microphone built into my HTC hermes but they came out pretty decently. correspondent observed no frequency shifts or other problems. Considerable disadvantage of this solution is the appropriate activation of modulation. In the future I will try to make an audio interface to connect the PPC to the trx.

Welcome to Part Two.

This time we will be finalizing settings DigitalMaster780 and demonstration of PSK31 communication issue.

And so we begin!

At the beginning we edit macros.
Macros are predefined response filing by computer during the QSO (eg name of correspondent or his mark).
Access to edit macros can be found in Tools / Macros menu or menu between the reception and transmission window:

Of course, the key “Default” may have different names, depending on the chosen set of macros.

When you click the “Manager” (or the entry by the “Tools” menu should appear in the window management macros. At my looks like this:
Note that the macros are divided into groups, such as “Call CQ”, “Reply,” “Closing”, “Info” and possibly “Various”.

Double-clicking on the macro you want to change appears to us the macro editor window:

At the top we have the ability to edit (or named if we made new macro) the names of macros and assign it to the group. Here we have the macro editor window where the content type of the macro. The tags below might help us to use the macro. Tags are phrases that change automatically when you send a message to the correspondent, so we do not have to type each time a call sign in the window or the name of the correspondent as well as many other more or less useful data to the computer itself for us to complete an ongoing basis.
The right of the editing section of the macro, we have options for this macro, we can make a macro that was sent immediately after selecting , can make start macro from the new line, or cleared TX box after you paste it. Even more to the right you can select in what issues you want to use the macros (other than the selected macro becomes invisible, and (especially in the more macro) will not interfere if it is not necessary.
Once you have a macro always click ok and then again about the macro manager to save any changes.

I noticed that the not standard macros are very welcome, because it shows that he wrote them a man and is not the machine rewrites. Remember to make not too long macro that does not bother the correspondent’s stories about us and our equipment.

Once we have all the basic settings set correctly, it’s time to start QSO. And here, as usual, we have several exits, we can start a call, or answer someone’s call. When we respond, we need to find someone who is calling. For this purpose, we can (but not need) use the tool “Superbrowser” He can decodes many (all) of the QSO for which we have set up the receiver. And it looks something like this:
As you can see we have a preview available at the waterfall (left) and the text carried out in our communications. Let us remember that our radio will not transmit fine on whole range, so if it finds an interesting correspondent on the edge of the waterfall, you should change the frequency slightly so that we strip our correspondent found himself near the center (most transmitters working properly on 1000-2500Hz and there should be carried out communications).

When you choose a correspondent, click on it twice, we should be automatically transferred into the chat window:
Now click the left mouse button on the call sign of the correspondent, and select “Callsign” sign should appear in the window “Add Log Entry” and if you have Internet access, data will be loaded when is available at qrz.com.
After entering the trade response to select the macro (the default reply / Him de Me Pse K).
In TX window should appear macro supplemented with our sign and the sign of the correspondent. Then when we are sure that we no disturb, select the button “Send F1″ or “Auto F2 (different that the Auto will automatically turn off broadcasting when reach last character).
Likewise, in later communications regarding the macro select the answer or completion of other communications.
Of course, nothing prevents us to use directly entered anything on the keyboard instead of macros.
When the QSO is ending tag <add-log> from closing macro automatically adds the log data communication to our logbook.

Remember never disturb to talk so as not to give answers to the call, once you give someone, because if the communication of audio, skilled operator is able to pick out a sign or even part of it, so much the computer is not able to distinguish nothing and operator will have to repeat the call.

Before the first qso try practice all on free of correspondents frequency, that when you make qso you know wher look after useful things, and to make sure that everything works as expected.

A moment of free time inspired me to write a guide for digital emissions.

In part 1 I help prepare program to for entry into the world of digital emissions. The basis for me to be Ham Radio Deluxe version 5.0 beta, but any advice will also apply to versions of the fourth.

The first thing you should do after installing the program, set this preference to operate the radio, depending on how transcivera have a kind of interface.

I do I have Icom IC-735 and home made interface (identical to the original CI-V and the connecting transmission audio with a complete optical separation). Window after the first turn on the program and set everything to connect the radio looks at me like this:

after the menager is connect to our radio we should see an interface with all the important switches and settings available to the radio.
program in Options (Tools / Program Options tab Com Port TX) we indicate how our user interface controls the PTT switch on the radio (for my interface, it is a RTS).

Since we are interest digital emissions, more than the HRD will interest us the sub-program, namely DigitalMaster 780, but before we get to it we have to set the last option in HRD and more specifically the IP server (Tools / ip Server)

The whole setup comes down to click on start, but it is worth mentioning the two options selected, as on my screenshot. The first ip server starts automatically every time you turn on HRD, and the second enables you to connect to our program only from our computer.

So go to DM780.
It is when you first start to add information about themselves in the “Tags” (on the left side) where their data type and data equipment have.

The next step is to connect the radio, or on the left select the “Radio” and “Configure” instantly set the port the same as Ip Server HRD (if there is nothing we changed leave it unchanged), and click connect, then if it not connect yet, we click “connect to HRD”, and you should see a streamlined interface of our radio service.

Another thing you should do is to set the PTT control of DM780, you can do so by going to Tools / Program Options (or press F8) later in the left menu select PTT and set the figure as:

At this time our program is configured to work in the digital emission, but the next thing (no longer in DM780) that must do is to set the level of the signal going to a transcivera. Since the vast majority probably use the sound card to modulate the signal it is necessary to calibrate the signal to the appropriate level (very weak signal will lead to the fact that our signal will be heard very little, and too strong a signal will lead to interference and side lobe in our signal , besides the przemodulowaniu not enough that we hurt others, and sowing a significant part of such a narrow-band digital broadcasting, it is still our signal becomes much less clear.

There are 2 methods drive the correct, first, where release the pure sine wave and observe the effect on the s-meter, after which we give so-called idle or emissions without digital characters (dm780 just press “send”) and adjust the volume on your system so that the power of was exactly half of the idle power of pure sine wave.

The second method is in accordance with the rate of activation of ALC, which release the issue of digital (ie we give a call or cokolwek another important not to disturb others) and set so that the signal strength indicator showed exactly ALC marked notch on the s-measuring cup:

It is also important to find the appropriate transmitter power, because if choosing too low a power is not in any way harmful to both us and the other (because we only slightly less audibly) a good thing too powerful barrier to carrying out communications through other signal distorting our usual fairly wide range (up to 500Hz, where the transmitter is working properly aligned to the width of 31Hz for PSK31).
Eg for my transmitter 100W maximum power, which leads not to change the width of occupied bandwidth is about 40W, but usually I work on about 20-30w or even QRP.

It is all for today, in the next section explains how to configure macros and to carry out the first link.

In the future I will try to mark additional information on.
I added mini log in the widget to the right indicating the date of the last 10 QSOs.
