Emisje cyfrowe w HRD (cz1, ustawienie programu)

A moment of free time inspired me to write a guide for digital emissions.

In part 1  I help prepare program to for entry into the world of digital emissions. The basis for me to be Ham Radio Deluxe version 5.0 beta, but any advice will also apply to versions of the fourth.

The first thing you should do after installing the program, set this preference to operate the radio, depending on how transcivera have a kind of interface.

I do I have Icom IC-735 and home made interface (identical to the original CI-V and the connecting transmission audio with a complete optical separation). Window after the first turn on the program and set everything to connect the radio looks at me like this:

connect_hrd

after the menager is connect to our radio we should see an interface with all the important switches and settings available to the radio.
program in Options (Tools / Program Options tab Com Port TX) we indicate how our user interface controls the PTT switch on the radio (for my interface, it is a RTS).

Since we are interest digital emissions, more than the HRD will interest us the sub-program, namely DigitalMaster 780, but before we get to it we have to set the last option in HRD and more specifically the IP server (Tools / ip Server)

ipserver

The whole setup comes down to click on start, but it is worth mentioning the two options selected, as on my screenshot. The first ip server starts automatically every time you turn on HRD, and the second enables you to connect to our program only from our computer.

So go to DM780.
It is when you first start to add information about themselves in the „Tags” (on the left side) where their data type and data equipment have.

The next step is to connect the radio, or on the left select the „Radio” and „Configure” instantly set the port the same as Ip Server HRD (if there is nothing we changed leave it unchanged), and click connect, then if it not connect yet, we click „connect to HRD”, and you should see a streamlined interface of our radio service.

Another thing you should do is to set the PTT control of DM780, you can do so by going to Tools / Program Options (or press F8) later in the left menu select PTT and set the figure as:

ptt_dm780

At this time our program is configured to work in the digital emission, but the next thing (no longer in DM780) that must do is to set the level of the signal going to a transcivera. Since the vast majority probably use the sound card to modulate the signal it is necessary to calibrate the signal to the appropriate level (very weak signal will lead to the fact that our signal will be heard very little, and too strong a signal will lead to interference and side lobe in our signal , besides the przemodulowaniu not enough that we hurt others, and sowing a significant part of such a narrow-band digital broadcasting, it is still our signal becomes much less clear.

There are 2 methods drive the correct, first, where release the pure sine wave and observe the effect on the s-meter, after which we give so-called idle or emissions without digital characters (dm780 just press „send”) and adjust the volume on your system so that the power of was exactly half of the idle power of pure sine wave.

The second method is in accordance with the rate of activation of ALC, which release the issue of digital (ie we give a call or cokolwek another important not to disturb others) and set so that the signal strength indicator showed exactly ALC marked notch on the s-measuring cup:

alc

It is also important to find the appropriate transmitter power, because if choosing too low a power is not in any way harmful to both us and the other (because we only slightly less audibly) a good thing too powerful barrier to carrying out communications through other signal distorting our usual fairly wide range (up to 500Hz, where the transmitter is working properly aligned to the width of 31Hz for PSK31).
Eg for my transmitter 100W maximum power, which leads not to change the width of occupied bandwidth is about 40W, but usually I work on about 20-30w or even QRP.

It is all for today, in the next section explains how to configure macros and to carry out the first link.
